Under-19s required at Eltham

ELTHAM Football Club is seeking more under-19 players to join its highly successful-19s program.

This is your opportunity to join Eltham's young, exciting club and play Division 1 football.

The club's under-19s have finished top of the ladder twice in recent seasons and 10 players from last year's under-19s side played senior football.

The Panthers' reputation for player development and opportunity at senior level is second to none.

Training is held at Eltham Central Park Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm

If you are looking to take your football to the next level and be the best you can be, contact Eltham under-19 coach Nick Carlyon 0438 190 690 or Football Director Chris Freeman 0412 386 806 now for more information

 NEW PRESIDENT ELECTED

In another positive, adding to our other recent good news. The club held a special meeting culminating with a number of extra people being recruited to our Committee.

Steve Merkel was then elected to the vacant Presidents position of the Eltham Football Club. Steve was previously President from 2009 to 2011, when he steered the club during what was a difficult period.

Although the club is still on the lookout to recruit more helpers to further ease the burden, in particular the Functions area.

The Eltham Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of former Essendon AFL player Jay Neagle

25 year old Jay, 191 cm and 98 kg was drafted to Essendon under the father-son rule at the end of the 2005 AFL season. In his first season, Neagle suffered a number of injury setbacks, primarily with his ankles.

Neagle played his first game of the 2007 season in Round 22, which was also Kevin Sheedy's last game as coach of Essendon and James Hird's last game as a player.

Despite lacking in fitness, Neagle was very impressive with his leading and marking and kicked his first senior AFL goal.

2008 saw Neagle develop rapidly. Despite missing large amounts of the pre-season and still having problems with his ankles, he appeared seven times in the Essendon senior side and kicked 10 goals, including three against West Coast and two against both Carlton and Port Adelaide. His accurate goal kicking and strength in marking contests became a feature of his playing style.
Jay played a total of 28 games with the bombers and kicked 41 goals prior to being delisted by Essendon in 2011.
Jay was at Broadbeach in the QAFL in season 2012 prior to playing 19 games with Korumburra-Bena last season, being named amongst their best on 13 occasions including the Alberton Football League grand final.

As well as Neagle, the club is pleased to have signed Ruck/Forward Sean Bolger 194cm, 95kg from Epping (right) along with, young ruckman Eaman Gilbert who played 13 games with the Northern Knights last season, while Brendan Ryan looks likely to return to the Panthers this season after a year with East Doncaster.

.
