PRE SEASON TRAINING NIGHTS 2012
Monday & Wednesday 6pm – 8pm
Friday night TBC
Venue - Susan Street Oval
Attendance records are kept and will
influence team selection for all practice
matches.
First week back at
training after Xmas and the New Year break
has started with a positive attitude by all
training two nights a week at this stage,
which will increase to 3 nights as we move
forward.
I hope everyone had a
good break, now is the time we all have to
put our heads down and work extremely hard
to prepare ourselves for the demanding and
exciting year that lies ahead. We have many
challenges that await us as a team, being
prepared as well as we can, will give us
every chance to overcome those hurdles that
will confront us with the aggression and
enthusiasm that is required.
I am extremely excited as
the new season approaches, as I have said on
many occasions; we need to be the fittest,
hardest and most skilled team in the
competition, and combined with the right
structures and game plans anything is
possible. To achieve these goals, each and
every one of us needs to be committed to
improving our game, which begins with the
right attitude to training.
The recruiting of new
players to our club has been exciting and at
times very challenging. At this stage we
have attracted several new players and I
welcome them to the Eltham Football Club. We
are still very active in the recruiting area
and I hope to have some further exciting
announcements to make in the near future.
In closing, I wish
everyone good luck and good health for the
coming season, remember everything we do as
an individual and as a group is for one
common goal, the TEAM!
Go Panthers!

The 2012 N.F.L. FIXTURE has been released
and is available by clicking
here also
an individual Eltham fixture is available by
clicking the link on the Right.
The first game of the season is on April
14th when we come up against 2011 Grand
finalist Heidelberg at home, this will be a
big first up test for us. It has not been
since 1982 when both sides were in Division
2 that we have defeated the
Tigers.
The next week we travel to Montmorency. Our
record at Montmorency has been good lately
with wins in both 2010 and 2011 at Mont.
Four of the first six games are at home
which is great news for our supporters. In
round 3 we welcome newly promoted neighbours
Lower Plenty to our home, this is sure
to be a big day. While we play host to Macleod and
Whittlesea in Rounds five and six.

The Panthers inducted Rod Haydock and Albert
Parsons as life members of the Eltham
Football Club.
Haydock, the father of recently-appointed
Panton Hill coach Dean, served on the senior
committee for 13 years and is highly
regarded within the NFL.
Parsons, who passed away in 1977, was
posthumously recognised for his services to
the club which date back to the 1920s.
He was captain-coach of Eltham’s first
premiership in 1930, when it defeated
Heidelberg by seven points in the Grand
Final, and was a playing coach in 1932 when
the club won its second flag.
Records show he played for the Panthers for
at least 16 years, serving as captain of 12
of those years, including 1935 when he
received the best and fairest award.
He coached for a total of 15 seasons and
served on the committee for seven years
between 1932-1938.
Parsons’ father George was the first person
to receive Life Membership with the Eltham
Football Club.
