Vets play off for Grand Final spot

The Winner gaining a spot in the Grand Final to meet the winner of the other playoff final between North Ringwood and Upper Fentree Gully.

Game Times

12.15pm  – North Ringwood vs Upper Fentree Gully

2.30pm – South Croydon vs Eltham

To help with parking at the ground, the side gate, to the railway station carpark, will be open.

Past Panther Day 2016

The Past Panther Association and committee of the Eltham Football Club invite you to the Panther Day on the 13th of August, 2016.

This year the club celebrates the 45th year anniversary of the 1971 ‘B’ grade premiership team.

This event is for all players, committee and supporters from the past and present to come down and catch up, and watch our Senior team play Macleod.

Venue : Central Park Social Rooms, Panther Place Eltham

Date : Saturday 13th of August, 2016

Time : 1pm

Finger food will be provided. Drinks at bar prices.

Panther Veterans dominant at Central

The Eltham Panther Veterans took apart ladder leaders North Ringwood Saints in the first half last Sunday at Eltham Central Park to keep their perfect winning home record in place. Led by tackling machine Matt Tallack and the kicking dominance of Shaun Lorenzini, Eltham were able to kick 6 goals to zero in the opening half and basically kill the game.

North Ringwood stepped up their game in the third and were looking like mounting a serious challenge to the games status quo but their poor kicking in front of goal coupled with Eltham’s defensive pressure snuffed out any comeback.

Adam Burns dominated in the ruck and gave plenty of first use ball to the likes of Grant, Tallack and Gardam. Eltham’s pressure constantly turned the screws on the Saints and the turnover ball gave Whiteside, Cordina, Maylin and Moloney plenty of opportunity to switch play, run and attack using the space in which Panther Park has to offer.

But the real story from the game was the kicking and running exhibition of Lorenzini who’s metres gained tally was something to behold. His ability to find forward targets from a normal two kicks away was a real heartbreak to the North Ringwood resistance.

The EFL has already requested Eltham to certify his powerful left foot as a lethal weapon after his last kick of the game almost mortally falconed plenty in its path as it whizzed head height for 40 metres through a crowded section of the ground. No one dared attempt to mark it and the time keepers thankfully said that’s enough better stop this before someone gets hurt.

Fortunately professional counselling will be suffice for those lucky to only catch its breeze. Still can’t get the supernatural sound out of my head of that ball rocketing through the misty night air when all else was silent in disbelief.

Big game for Vets this Sunday

The next game for the Panther Veterans is at Home against North Ringwood on this Sunday the 26th of June.

North Ringwood will be a real test for the boys as they are last years’ premiers and are undefeated this year.

This is the game the boys have been looking forward to

Veterans News – June 2016

Hey boys,

For those who couldn’t get to the game on the weekend, we had a 90 point win against Forrest Hill.

We had winners all over the ground, the standouts were Killa with 40 odd marks at CHF and snagged 4, Lora and BG just did as they normally did dominated!!! Benny was great again, Stricko very good, and others who stood out were Jay and Bretty Maylin! Congrats to Sparky for snagging his first major for the vets and celebrated with a double fist punch above the head….which I personally thought was a bit over the top considering we were 80 points up at the time….but each to their own!

Best players : Killa, Lora, BG, Stricko, Maylin, Donato, Minney

Goals : Killa 4, Coathy 2, Stricko 2, and I can’t remember all of them except for Sparky with a double fist punch above the head when we were 80 points up!

The next game is against North Ringwood on the 26th of June!!!! Yes a 3 week break! I think it’s at home, but will clarify when closer to the date. If you are unavailable to play on the 26th of June, please send me an e-mail, otherwise I forget! We will be picking our best available team against North, as they are last years’ premiers and are undefeated this year!

We will be training this Wednesday, even if raining!
