To all of our Eltham Football Club community
The redevelopment of the social rooms at Central Park were completed in the last 2 weeks. It is unfortunate that in the current circumstances we cannot physically attend the rooms to inspect what will now be a first class facility for all of us to enjoy.
A significant amount of work has gone into the lobbying and planning of the facility of 8 to 10 years led by Peter Lamont on behalf of the Eltham Club (representing the Eltham Football club – and Eltham Cricket Club) – in addition to various football and cricket club representatives who have put in significant time to the planning of the facility – I will send out further acknowledgement of those people in the near future.
The official opening of the facility will be next Monday 21 September at 10 am via zoom (link attached) and everyone is welcome and encouraged to tune in. Peter Lamont – President of Eltham Club will be representing the sporting club tenants.
I would also like to acknowledge the support of Vicki Ward (our number 1 ticket holder) in terms of her efforts in securing funding for the facility and to the past and current councillors of Nillumbik Shire and the council staff – who have supported and facilitated the redevelopment.
Whilst the fixture for next years football has not been released yet – the club is anticipating the opening game of the season will be April 2 – Good Friday and would plan to undertake the official physical opening on that day (in conjunction with other sporting clubs (Eltham Junior Football Club and Eltham Cricket Club) – subject to the uncertainties and vagaries of the current environment and in anticipation that the world has returned to a level of normality.
On behalf of the club we thank all of the community for there ongoing support and hope you are all keeping as well as possible in the current difficult circumstances and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible when the opportunity presents.
